
Meet Dr. Fay Sprouse
Dr. Fay Sprouse assumed the leadership role as Western Piedmont Education Consortium’s Executive Director effective July 1, 2024, replacing Jim Suber who departed at the end of June.
Educational Background:
- Graduated from Erskine College
- Master’s degree from Furman University
- Educational Leadership degree from Clemson University (2009)
Career History:
Dr. Sprouse completed a 40-year education career, including 23 years as superintendent in Greenwood 51 School District, retiring at the end of June 2024.
Recognition and Achievements:
She received the 2024 South Carolina Association of School Administrators (SCASA) Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing “outstanding leadership, a record of service and leadership as a SCASA member” and community service. She has been a SCASA member since 1994 and served as Board President this year, along with roles as Superintendents’ Affiliate Representative and mentor for emerging leaders.
Role and Responsibilities:
Having participated in the Consortium since 2001, Dr. Sprouse understands its operations. Her responsibilities include meeting with 17 Job Alike Peer Groups to address concerns and goals, monitoring proposed legislation, and reporting potential impacts to the Board of Directors. The Consortium serves 13 school districts plus the SC Governor’s School for Agriculture and higher education partners including Piedmont Technical College, Clemson University, Lander University, and USC Union.
Dr. Sprouse expressed gratitude for continuing her lifelong passion in education.
